In an alleyway, hidden from the view of passersby, lay a small cat. It was a stray, with patchy fur and a thin, malnourished body. Its once vibrant coat had faded, now dull and dirty from the harsh realities of street life. The poor cat lay motionless, its limbs completely still, unable to move or escape the pain that coursed through its body.
